Vauxhall Park was opened by the Prince of Wales in July 1890. It includes the garden of Henry Fawcett, the blind postmaster general, statesman and economist. On Henrys death in 1884 his wish to form a park was carried out by his wife Millicent Garret Fawcett, Octavia Hill and the Kryle Society with donations from the community.
